The Maritime rugby team finished the fall 2009 season with an even 4-4 record and a fourth place finish in Division III of the Metro New York Rugby Football Union. The Privateer ruggers exploded out to a 3-0 start, but faced a tougher schedule the rest of the way, including the top three teams in the conference the last three weeks.

The Maritime rugby team fell to Rutgers-Camden, 38-18, on Sunday in Met-N.Y. conference action. With the loss, the Privateers fall to 4-3 on the season, while Rutgers improves to 6-1.

An awakened Maritime rugby team ran on the field and was all business today, defeating Wagner, 52-10, on Reinhart Field in the 2009 fall home-finale. With the win, the Privateers improve to 4-1 on the season and remain in third place in the Metropolitan New York Rugby Football Union standings, while the Seahawks fall to 3-2.

9.30.2009 | Rugby
The Maritime varsity ruggers defeated Kings Point, 5-0, in a 20-minute scrimmage last night on Reinhardt Field. Intensity that may have been lacking in Sunday's match against Molloy was evident last evening during the 20 minutes of solid tackling and passing. There was no let up on either side. Kings Point carried the JV side games 7-0 and 12-0.

The Maritime rugby team lost a close game to Molloy, 30-29, Sunday afternoon at Reinhart Field. The Privateers suffered their first loss of the season and fell to 3-1, while the Lions improved to 2-1 overall.

Jorrie Trenkamp
Women's Soccer
Trenkamp was named to the Skyline Conference women's soccer honor roll for the first week of the season after she recorded the first two goals of the season for the Pirvateers in their loss at Southern Maine on Sunday.

Football
Barnes was named ECFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 1 after he was all over the field Thursday night in the Privateers' 15-12 season-opening win over rival Mass. Maritime in the Fourth Annual Chowder Bowl, recording a game-high 17 tackles (14 solo and 3 assisted), including one for a loss of eight yards. He is no stranger to ECFC Defensive Player of the Week nods, as he earned the accolade a conference-best three times during the season in 2009.
