THROGGS NECK, NY - The Maritime College Rifle team was down in Manhattan the weekend of October 20th, as they competed against John Jay College. The Privateers had their best score so far this season, putting up a team score of 1902. However, they couldn't get by the Bloodhounds of of JJC in the end.
Sophomore Mark DeMarco (Staten Island, NY) paced the Privateers with a score of 518, while freshmen Brandon Webber (Massena, N.Y./Massena) (Massena ,NY) followed with a 508.  Ahmet Sakar (Istanbul, Turkey/) and Mert Sakal (Istanbul, Turkey/) (Turkey, Turkey) tallied 445 and 447 respectively, followed by Junior Karly Moise Duquella (Haiti, Haiti) who scored a 441. Senior Robert Sundius (Garden City, NY/Garden City) III (Garden City, NY) scored a 433.
Even though they did not pick up the victory, the Privateers have a very positive outcome of that event. The team has started to get in a groove and have improved sine the beginning of the season. They hope to turn the tides in their next competition and pick up their first win at the Admiral's Cup in New London, Connecticut, on the weekend of November 10th 2007.
