THROGS NECK, NY - The weather was perfect Sunday afternoon when the two undefeated teams met at Maritime College for the league showdown.

In the first half, William Patterson came out fired up, scoring three tries in the first half. With only three minutes left in the first half, Sophomore Scrum-half Patrick Alfisi scored Maritime’s first try of the match. Sophomore Full-Back Bobby Welch was successful in the conversion. The first half ended with William Patterson in the lead 19-7.

The second half was dominated by Maritime. The Privateers first scored on a try by Senior Winger Luigi Small. Welch would convert his second conversion of the match. The Privateers held William Paterson from the try line throughout the second half, dominating the pitch and allowing just one penalty goal. Exploiting William Patterson’s two yellow cards due to a multitude of penalties, Junior 8-Man Christian Cifferri pushed his way to a try from penalty kick; making the score 22-19 to William Patterson. With a scrum to Maritime and seconds left on the clock, the privateers would win their put-in. Scrum-Half Patrick Alfisi passed the ball out to the wing where Sophomore Andres Wynter would break through William Paterson’s winded back-line. Just meters shy of the try-line, Wynter made the opportune pass to Winger Luigi Small who touched the ball down for the last try of the match.

Maritime trumped William Patterson to remain undefeated for the season (4-0) and will host Montclair State on Sunday October 19th at 1:00pm
