Keith Barnes Earns His Third ECFC Defensive Player Of The Week Honor

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 19, 2009) – Maritime football sophomore Keith Barnes-LB (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) was named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Defensive Player of the Week for Week Seven, as announced by the conference on Monday. It’s the league-leading third time this season that Barnes earned this honor. He previously got the accolades after Week One and Week Three.
Barnes had a team-high 8.5 tackles (seven solo and three assisted) in Maritime's 68-6 win over Becker on Saturday, including three for combined losses of 18 yards. The 6-0, 240-pounder had an interception and a fumble recovery to go along with two forced fumbles and two sacks.

The 5-2 (2-1 ECFC) Maritime football team returns to action in Week Eight on Saturday, Oct. 24, when the squad plays host to 3-4 (3-1 ECFC) Mount Ida. Coin flip is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
