Volleyball Falls To College Of Staten Island, 3-0

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2009) – The Maritime volleyball team was swept by the College of Staten Island, 3-0, Tuesday night at the CSI Sports Complex. The scores of the match were 25-16, 25-15 and 25-23. With the loss, the Privateers fall to 3-8 overall on the season, while the Dolphins improve to 6-10.
Freshman Lauren Johnson registered 10 kills and seven digs for Maritime, while sophomore Natalie Jackson recorded a a team-high with 16 assists to along with seven digs and five kills. Freshman Jerrica Romero and junior libero Natalie Warren chipped in with nine and eight digs, respectively.
The Privateers return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Westbury, N.Y., for a Skyline Conference Tri-Match. There they will take on the Panthers of Old Westbury at 11 a.m. and the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph’s-L.I. at 1 p.m.
