THROGS NECK, NY – Voting results were released Saturday morning for the men's lacrosse All-Metro team, and Stephen Doherty (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) was voted in by the coaches in the region. Doherty was a first team All-Skyline midfielder, and is Maritime's only representative on the All-Region team.
Doherty played in all 14 games for the Privateers, starting in all but 2. He was the Privateer's main faceoff man, taking 197 and winning 124 (63%). With all those wins came 85 ground balls, putting him at the top of the conference in ground balls per game (6.07). His winning percentage placed him 25th in the country and his 6.07 ground balls per game was 33rd.
After each season, the coaches form the Metro Region get together and vote for the top players. SUNY Maritime ad Montclair State were the only Skyline Conference Representatives to make the All-Region Team.
