THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Jan. 29, 2010) – Maritime College men’s lacrosse head coach Daniel Lawrence announced on Friday the hiring of John Savage as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2010 season. Savage will work with the Privateers’ offense, as well as the extra man unit.

Savage comes to Maritime after most recently serving as the head coach of the J.V. lacrosse squad at North Shore High School in Glen Head, N.Y. In addition to his coaching experience at North Shore High, Savage has also been an assistant on the collegiate level for three years at Adelphi University from 2005-07.

He also played as a two-year starter on defense for the Panthers during his undergraduate time at Adelphi. Prior to arriving at Adelphi, Savage played two years at Nassau Community College, where he won two NJCAA national championships and was honored as an all-American his sophomore year. Savage has also played lacrosse internationally, as a member of Team Ireland in the 2002 World Games in Perth, Australia.

Savage earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Adelphi University.
