LANCASTER, Pa. (April 15, 2010) – Despite a hat trick by sophomore tri-captain Catherine Brady (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) (Holbrook, N.Y.), the Maritime women's lacrosse team lost on the road in non-conference action to Lancaster Bible College on Thursday by the score of 18-7. The defeat drops the Privateers' record to 1-9 overall, while the Chargers improve to 5-7.

Brady extended her scoring streak to seven-straight games and she has recorded at least one point in all 10 of Maritime's games. Sophomore Kristin Saporito (Rocky Point, N.Y.) found the back of the net in the first half and she has now recorded at least one goal in each of the last nine games, while also recording a point in all 10. Junior Jill Davenport (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) (Miller Place, N.Y.), senior Heather Christiansen (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) (Baldwin, N.Y.) and freshman Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J.) rounded out the scoring with second-half goals for the Privateers.

In net for Maritime, senior tri-captain Meagan Golden (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) (Point Pleasant, N.J.) recorded seven saves in the losing effort.

The Privateers got on the board first just over six minutes into the game when Brady scored unassisted. Lancaster Bible would score the next six goals before Saporito and Brady tallied back-to-back scores to cut the deficit in half, 6-3. The first half ended with the Chargers in front, 8-3.

In the second half, Lancaster improved its lead to 12-3 before Maritime responded. Davenport and Brady scored two of the next three goals to pull within 13-5. Four quick goals by the Chargers made it 17-5, and then Christiansen and Trenkamp scored sandwiching around a Lancster tally and the scoring ended, 18-7.

Up next, Maritime returns to action on Saturday, April 17, when the squad travels to Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., to take on Skyline-opponent Bard College (1-7, 0-7 Skyline). Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Raptors' Lorenzo Ferrari Soccer Field.
