THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (August 13, 2010) – The Maritime women’s soccer team, fresh off its program-best eight-win season in 2009, released its schedule for the upcoming 2010 campaign on Friday. The Privateers will play 17 games this season, including six contests in the friendly confines of Reinhart Field.

The squad will begin its sixth year of existence with five games away from home, including a season-opening trip to Maine to take on Unity College on Sept. 4 and the University of Southern Maine the next day, Sunday, Sept. 5.

The slate features one non-conference home game against SUNY Potsdam, which is Maritime’s home-opener on Friday, Sept. 17. The remaining games in Throggs Neck will be against Skyline Conference opponents Mount Saint Vincent (Sept. 27), St. Joseph’s-L.I. (Sept. 29), Bard (Oct. 8), Yeshiva (Oct. 12) and Sage (Oct. 23). The squad will look to qualify for its first-ever Skyline Conference Tournament, which will begin on Oct. 30.

Maritime finished the 2009 season with an 8-10-1 record and an eighth-place finish in the Skyline Conference under head coach Laura Mooney, who will enter her fifth year at Maritime and her fourth as head coach of the Privateers.

Also released on Friday is the program’s statistical record book, title “For the Record.” It features all the team records and individual category leaders for goals, assists, points and shots for games, seasons and careers, as well as the program’s coaching records. It can be viewed on the Women’s Soccer page of the Maritime Athletics website or by clicking here.
