THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Jan. 26, 2011) – The Maritime sailing team is excited to be able to field three teams in the Interclub Midwinter Championships, a non-collegiate regatta hosted at Larchmont Yacht Club this weekend, Jan. 28-29. Although the event does not appear on the collegiate racing schedule, it boats a strong field of sailors across 32 pre-registered teams.
 
        The sailors will be competing in the Interclub dinghy, a two-person boat unique to the Northeast and only sailed during the winter months. The Privateer sailors are excited to try their hand for the first time in the class and to shake off the off-season rust.
 
        Sailing for Maritime are Matt Schoene (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck Senior) (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck Senior)/Paige Conlin (Bellport, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (Bellport, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Tyler Steel (Southwest Harbor, Maine/Mount Desert Island) (Southwest Harbor, Maine/Mount Desert Island)/Kyle Crandall (Caznovia, N.Y./Caznovia) (Caznovia, N.Y./Caznovia) on Maritime 1, Shawn Murray (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spaulding)/Morgan Poulos Keating (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) and Ted Green (Wickford, R.I./Bishop Hendricksen) III (Wickford, R.I./Bishop Hendricksen)/Emma Lamontagne (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) on Maritime 2, and Julia Paxton (Sebastopol, Calif./Analy) (Sebastopol, Calif./Analy)/Andrew Haggerty (Poughquag, N.Y./Arlington) (Poughquag, N.Y./Arlington) and Randy Hartranft (Bayville, N.J./Monmouth Academy)/Thomas Sippel (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) on Maritime 3. Freshman Eric Donahue (Massapequa, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) will also be competing on a non-Maritime sponsored team. Good luck to all of the Privateer sailors!
