Tucker, Hemmer And Hobbs Earn Skyline Weekly Honors; Vanderlinden Lands On Honor Roll

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Dec. 11, 2012) – On Monday, the Skyline Conference announced the weekly honors for men's and women's swimming and three members of the Maritime swim team earned the big awards. On the men's side, senior Joe Tucker (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) was named the Swimmer of the Week and sophomore Daniel Hemmer (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) garnered Rookie of the Week honors. Freshman Hayley Hobbs (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) earned the women's Rookie of the Week award, while sophomore Mariel Vanderlinden (Woodside, N.Y./Dominican Academy) landed on the weekly honor roll.
 
        Tucker captured the 100-yard (52.34) and 200-yard (1:56.83) freestyle events on Dec. 4 as Maritime dropped a 133-107 decision at William Paterson. He also won the 100-yard freestyle (51.48) and swam a leg on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:33.82) in the Privateers' 156-39 victory over Mount Saint Mary on Dec. 5. Tucker has been named the Skyline Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season.
 
        Hemmer won a pair of individual events and swam a leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:48.58) in Maritime's victory over Mount Saint Mary. The rookie placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.44) and 200-yard individual medley (2:15.41).

        Hobbs notched victories in the 50-yard freestyle (27.86) and 100-yard butterfly (1:07.77) events on Dec. 5 in a 125-80 loss to Mount Saint Mary. She also swam a leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay (2:05.68). She captured the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.48) on Dec. 4 in a 107-69 loss at William Paterson. She is tabbed as the Skyline Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
 
        Vanderlinden won the 100-yard backstroke and swam on a pair of winning relays in the loss to Mount St. Mary.
