Head of the Charles Regatta ResultsCAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Maritime Crew team competed this weekend on the Charles River in Massachusetts this weekend, taking part in the famed Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

Maritime competed in three head races this weekend, competing against the clock in the Men's Club Fours, the Men's Collegiate Fours, and the Men's Lightweight fours.

The Men's Club Fours, was the 16th event on the weekend, and featured a fleet of 53 boats in competition. The Privateers recorded a time of 18:44.562, which was good enough for 30th in the standings.

Aboard the vessel was sophomore
Quinlan McLoughlin (Valhalla, N.Y./Valhalla), sitting fourth seat, while he was joined by freshman
Eamon Gekakis (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes), sophomore
Christopher DeMan (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook), and junior
Jeffrey Burgess (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota Military Academy). Freshman
Chris Chilelli (Bordentown N.J./Bordentown Regional) served as coxswain for Maritime in the event.

Up next for Maritime was the Men's Collegiate Fours in the 26nd event of the weekend. The class featured 46 colleges, primarily throughout the northeast. Maritime finished in 22nd position, recording a time of 18:15.492.

Brian Sweeney (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor), junior
Ian Thomsen (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County), and classmate
Corey Toscano (Union Vale, N.Y./Our Lady Of Lourdes) cruised across the line for Maritime, with junior
Rachel DeFroda (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) in the coxswain seat.

Finally, the Men's Lightweight Fours took to the water for the 52nd event for the weekend. The small field featured just 15 squads, with Maritime finishing in 13th position with a time of 18:12.816.

Albert Merz (Mathews, Va./Mathews) in third, junior
Mike Kane (Lewes, Del./Salesianum) sat second, while classmate
Liam Gagliano (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) was aboard in the first seat. Sophomore
Kayla Nolan (Howard Beach, N.Y./Scholars' Academy) served as coxswain for the 13th place Privateers.

With the conclusion of the 51st Annual Head of the Charles Regatta, Maritime will use this week to prepare for its next event in Philadelphia. The Head of the Schuykill takes place along the Schuykill River on both Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25.
