THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – Following yet another successful and active year, the Maritime Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), led by advisor

Â
The nominees for the board were voted on in the spring by active SAAC members, with the winners assuming their role effective for the upcoming fall.
Â
"We are very excited to start the 2015-16 school year with all the SAAC events we have planned," said Denning. "With some of the great veteran representatives returning and a strong e-board, SAAC is looking forward to a great year."

Taking over as President is football junior

Â
In the past year alone, Maritime SAAC has helped out at numerous events and raised funds for great causes throughout the tri-state area. The group also assists at many home athletic events, and hosts activities during home contests for fans to win prizes.
Â
A student-athlete advisory committee is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.
Â
The purpose of SAAC is to promote communication between the Athletics Administration and the Student-Athlete, disseminate information, while also providing feedback and insight into the athletic department issues or concerns, generate a student-athlete voice regarding formulation of athletic policies, build community within Privateer Athletics with all athletic teams, solicit student-athlete responses to proposed NCAA Legislation, organize community service events, and to promote a positive student-athlete image and sense of unity on campus.
