BRONX, N.Y. – The Maritime Men's and Women's Cross Country teams were back on the course on Sunday morning, as the Privateers took part in the York (N.Y.) Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park.

The Men's Team recorded a third place finish at the meet with 110 points, while the women's team finished in sixth place with 219 points. For the women's team it was their top finish at a meet since the 2013 season, when the Privateers came in fourth place at the College of Staten Island Invitational at Clove Lakes Park.

Leading the charge for the Maritime women's team on the 6,000 meter course was freshman
Bethany Champlin () with a time of 28:18.5 as she finished 23rd of 167 racers on the afternoon. Sophomore
Jean Colgan (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) was next across the finish line for the Privateers with a time of 28:38.9, followed by classmate
Emily Zink (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) with a time of 29:01.7.

Finishing next for the Privateers was sophomore
Katia Aaron (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) came across the line fourth for Maritime with a time of 31:47.6, while rookie
Erin Teige (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Dominican Academy) picked up the final points position for the Privateers with a 35:18.5.

Freshman
Whitney Taylor () finished with a time of 36:23.5, while sophomore
Riley Huang (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) rounded out the field of racers for the Privateers with a time of 38:46.9.

On the men's side, Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year from 2015
Joseph Pellegrino (Huntington, N.Y./Commack) was back on the course for the first time this season and picked up where he left off. Pellegrino posted a top-10 finish with a time of 29:11.0.

Sean Hobson (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) was just off of Pellegrino's pace by three seconds as he crossed the line with a 29:27.1, followed by classmate
Kyle O'Brien (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington), who took 15th place overall and third for the Privateers with a time of 29:38.1.

Derek Nielsen (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) with a 31:04.9, followed by classmates
Bryan Tornatore (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeyoye Falls-Lima) with a 31:09.8, and fellow freshman
Marco Rosado (Lajas, Puerto Rico/Academia San Agustin y Espiritu Santo) just outside of scoring position with a 31:14.8.

Tom Mongeau (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) picked up a 31:42.4, while sophomore
Vincent Cotrone (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) posted a 31:48.2. Christian Berlin was next with a 31:56.7, followed by junior
Timmy Montera (Bellmore, N.Y./Bellmore JFK) in 50th place with a time of 32:15.6.

Sophomore Johnathan Trencheny recorded a time of 33:06.1, with sophomore
Chris Ladd (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) picking up a time of 33:20.9, and sophomore
Garrett Ernst (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) tallying a 33:53.4. Sophomore
Andrew Torti (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy) recorded his first career time with a 36:20.7, followed by sophomore
Tanner Russo (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) with a 41:14.6.Senior
Michael Schmid (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) rounded out the field for Maritime with a 46:47.5.

Following their second and final run of the season at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday, Maritime will look towards the Mount St. Mary Knight Invitational at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y. this Saturday, October 1.
