Andrew Dresner was introduced as Maritime’s Head Football Coach in April 2026. He came to Fort Schuyler with nearly 15 years of college football coaching experience, including nearly a decade at the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level. In addition, Dresner previously served as Interim Head Coach at both the University of Maine and Stony Brook University.
He joined the Privateers after two seasons at the College of Holy Cross. Dresner was the Crusaders’ Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach, and 10 offense players earned all-conference honors during his time in Worcester. Five players were named first team all-conference in 2024, his first year with the program, when Holy Cross won a share of the Patriot League title. Under Dresner’s tutelage that season, quarterback Joe Pesansky was named Second Team All-Patriot after throwing for more than 2,400 passing yards (which was among the Top 25 in the nation).
Prior to Holy Cross, Dresner was the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Stony Brook. During the 2023 season, the Seawolves had their highest completion percentage in a decade (56 percent) and had their best yardage output since 2019. He later became Stony Brook’s Interim Head Coach.
From 2018-22, Dresner was on the staff at the University of Maine. He began as the Black Bears’ Wide Receivers Coach before transitioning to Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach. Dresner also had a stint as Interim Head Coach.
During the 2018 season, Maine averaged nearly 350 yards of total offense per game and won its first outright conference championship in five years enroute to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA FCS semifinals. The Black Bears twice led the league in passing yards (2019, 2021) during Dresner’s time in Orono, and six players were named all-conference in 2021. Four Maine players went on to sign professional contracts with teams in either the NFL or CFL.
Dresner also worked at the Division II level, helping Pace University to its best overall record since 2008 during his one season as Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach in 2017. Following one year as Quarterbacks Coach at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (2012), he spent four years at Merrimack College (2013-16), where he was the Quarterbacks Coach, Pass Game Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator. Dresner began his coaching career at his alma mater, Union College, mentoring All-American wide receiver Justin Gallo as the Wide Receivers Coach/Offensive Coordinator from 2010-11.
A 2010 graduate of Union, Dresner received a master’s degree from Merrimack in 2016.
