THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (May 4, 2010) – Maritime sophomore Jonathan Proscia (Franklin Square, N.Y.) was named to the All-Skyline Baseball Second Team, announced on Monday by conference commissioner Tracy King. Proscia, who transferred to Maritime and played his first season with the Privateers this year, earned the accolade after a vote by all nine Skyline head coaches. This is the third-straight season that a Maritime player was named to an all-conference team.

The outfielder, who spent most of the season in right field, was the Privateers’ leader with 19 runs batted in over all 29 games this season. His 35 hits were also a team-high, while his .330 batting average ranked second on the squad. He scored 18 runs on the season, which ranked third on Maritime, thanks in large part to a Skyline-leading 25 stolen bases.

The Privateers ended the season with an 11-18 overall record – which was a five-win improvement from last year’s squad – under first-year head coach Gene Steinbach. Maritime was 7-9 in conference action and earned the No. 6 seed in the Skyline Tournament, which marked the first time that this group of players reached the postseason.
