THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (August 12, 2010) – Last Sunday, over 300 kids from the Bronx Warriors Pee Wee Football League participated in a Punt, Pass and Kick event hosted by Maritime College. Many members of the Privateer football team, as well as a number of coaches, were on hand to help out at the event.

The winners from the competition have the opportunity to advance to the Meadowlands for the regional finals. The national finals will be held at the Super Bowl in February.

Maritime's junior offensive lineman Nick Versaci (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) is a product of the Bronx Warriors and was at the event helping the youngsters out throughout the day.

He reflected on his time with the Warriors:

“The Warriors gave me my start in this sport and really helped me develop my passion for the game of football, which has given me opportunities both on and off the field here at Maritime College,” commented Versaci.

Each year, Maritime football sponsors coaching clinics with the Bronx Warriors and hosts their coaches at team practices. During the 2010 season, the Privateer football team will hold the Bronx Warrior Pee Wee Football Day on Saturday, October 30, prior to the game against Norwich , which will include a scrimmage between members of the pee wee league.
