THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Dec. 19, 2012) – In the past few weeks, Maritime football senior linebacker
Keith Barnes (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) has earned two more postseason honors after his remarkable 2012 season. Earlier this month, he was named to the D3Football.com All-East Region Second Team Defense. He was also named to the ECAC Division III North Football All-Stars.
Barnes is the national leader in solo tackles with 8.33 per game and also ranks second in DIII with 13.78 total tackles per game. The 6-0, 240-pounder ended the season with nine tackles for combined loses of 31 yards, including a team-high four sacks. He also recorded three forced fumbles and three quarterback hurries.
These honors go along with Barnes being named to the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) First Team Defense for the third straight season, as well as being selected to play in the D3Senior Classic “Senior Bowl” in Salem, Va. earlier this month.

Barnes holds most of the defensive records in the “modern era” of the Maritime football program, including solo and total tackles, tackles for losses, forced fumbles and quarterback hurries. He is also a two-time ECFC Defensive Player of the Year (2010 and 2011) and ends his career as the most decorated player in the Privateer football history.
